WHERE DOES YOUR MONEY GO?

$25 each school uniform
The Kinondo Primary School provides almost everything to the children who attend: books, supplies, and tuition, but the families are asked to cover the costs of uniforms. Most families cannot afford new uniforms so the children often wear torn and ill fitting hand me downs.

$75/patient: Radiology and blood work
Patients receive a thorough examination prior to surgery that includes radiology and blood work to ensure that the patients can safely have anesthesia and recover after the surgery. These exams add up to one of our largest costs for the trips.

$250/week: Operating room nurse and/or technician
Kinondo Kwetu operating room nurses work side by side with our team. They know the facilities better than we do, so we rely on their expertise to ensure safe and efficient surgeries. There is so much happening behind the scenes in order to have a well functioning operating room. The technicians prepare the operating room, sort and sterilize the instruments, and stock the supply area.

$300/week: Medications
We want to make sure that patients receive proper anesthesia during surgery, preventative antibiotics when prescribed, and any pain control needed during and after surgery.

$500/week: Anesthesiology
We partner with the Kinondo Kwetu anesthesiology team. We believe that direct communication between the patient and the anesthesiologist, in their own language, is crucial to the patient’s comfort prior to surgery. During surgeries our patients can receive either general or spinal anesthesia.

$1000/patient: Complete Surgical Care
The cost from start to finish for a patient receiving treatment from us. This would include preoperative radiology and blood work, surgery, postoperative recovery, and hospitalization.
